Bulgaria demands compensation for relatives of UN staffer killed in Gaza – Middle East Monitor

Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev announced that Bulgaria will seek compensation for the family of Marin Marinov, a Bulgarian UN staffer killed in Gaza on March 19, due to an Israeli tank shell. He expressed condolences and noted that Israel had apologized for the incident, emphasizing the need for the protection of humanitarian workers and urging the international community to ensure their safety. Georgiev also called for a ceasefire in Gaza, highlighting the urgent need to prevent further civilian casualties amid ongoing Israeli attacks, which have resulted in over 51,350 Palestinian deaths since October 2023.
