At least nine people were killed and four injured when a Russian drone struck a civilian bus in Ukraine’s Sumy region, described by local authorities as a “cynical attack” on civilians. This incident occurred shortly after Russia and Ukraine held their first direct talks in nearly three years, which yielded a prisoner exchange agreement but no ceasefire, as Kyiv called for an “unconditional ceasefire” while Moscow dismissed the request. Ukraine’s defense minister indicated that a future meeting between Presidents Putin and Zelensky could be the next step in the conflict resolution process.
