A 12-year-old girl, Maya Gebala, was critically injured while trying to protect her classmates during a shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in B.C., which resulted in eight fatalities. She was shot in the head and neck while attempting to lock a library door and is currently in critical care at B.C. Children’s Hospital, where her mother, Cia Edmonds, has been warned about the severity of her condition.
