Army chief plays down top commander's letter flagging issues facing units headed by women officers

Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi praised the performance of women officers in the Army and expressed plans to increase their induction, despite concerns raised by Lt General Rajeev Puri about issues faced by units led by women officers in the eastern sector. Gen Dwivedi downplayed the concerns, stating that a court of inquiry has been ordered regarding the leaked letter and emphasizing that the appointment of women commanding officers was a result of a Supreme Court order.
