NATO to make fresh push for common arms standards

NATO is planning to establish common munitions standards to reduce costs and enhance battlefield efficiency in response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine. Defence ministers are tasking Secretary-General Mark Rutte with modernizing the standardization process, prioritizing battle-decisive ammunition. Despite existing standards, NATO nations have deviated, leading to market fragmentation and operational challenges that are now being addressed.
