Karen Rees, a senior manager at the hospital where Lucy Letby murdered babies, supported Letby and urged her to ‘hang in there’ after accusations of harming patients, even after Letby was moved off the neo-natal unit. Rees admitted to getting ‘too close’ to Letby and continued to contact her, expressing pride and support, even after Letby’s arrest. Letby murdered seven babies and attempted to murder seven more, and it was revealed that potentially life-threatening incidents occurred on almost a third of the shifts Letby worked at another hospital.
