The Government is urging TVNZ to enhance its financial performance, aiming for the publicly-owned broadcaster to resume dividend payments to the Crown within two to three years, according to Media and Communications Minister Paul Goldsmith in the new Media Insider podcast. While acknowledging some progress in TVNZ’s financials, he emphasized that there is still significant work needed, highlighting the importance of live radio for RNZ. Goldsmith expressed optimism about audience growth on TVNZ+, but reiterated the need for the broadcaster to generate returns for its owner.
