A group of young men known as the “Tauranga Paedophile Catchers” has been accused of committing hate crimes by posting video montages of assaults on gay men lured through Grindr. They claimed to be inspired by the U.S. TV show To Catch A Predator, but instead of conducting sting operations, they created fake profiles, arranged meetings, and filmed their assaults to share on social media.
