Hilton Keller, wrongfully convicted of armed robbery and murder at 18, spent 33 years in prison before being released just before the holidays due to false testimonies. Despite a reduced sentence and temporary release, Keller fought to vacate his conviction, which was finally overturned on Monday. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has yet to decide on a retrial, as Keller’s legal team plans to seek a certificate of innocence in the new year.
