A “lie flat” competition in Batou, Inner Mongolia, saw 240 contestants attempting to be named the ‘world’s laziest man’ by remaining motionless on mattresses for as long as possible. Participants were allowed to use their phones, read, and order takeout but were prohibited from sitting up or leaving the mattress. After 33 hours and 35 minutes, a competitor was crowned the winner and awarded CNY 3,000 (£323). The event, organized by a home-furnishings brand, plans to hold similar competitions in other cities.
