Iran secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup with Mehdi Taremi’s two goals in a 2-2 draw against Uzbekistan, marking their seventh appearance overall. Australia also took a step towards qualification with a 2-0 win over China, while South Korea drew 1-1 with Jordan to maintain their lead in their group. The top two teams in each group in Asia are guaranteed a spot in the tournament, with third and fourth place teams competing for two additional places.
