Imane Khelif discusses SRY gene and testosterone therapy
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Boxer Imane Khelif has acknowledged possessing the SRY gene, associated with biological males, and is undergoing hormone treatments to reduce testosterone levels ahead of the 2024 Olympics, although she denies being transgender. Khelif stated her genetic differences are natural and expressed willingness to undergo genetic testing for the 2028 Olympics. Despite winning a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Khelif’s participation is under scrutiny due to new sex testing policies by World Boxing. The IOC has defended Khelif amid controversies regarding gender eligibility and testing.
