Truck Driver in Humboldt Broncos Crash Nears Deportation
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A lawyer for Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, the truck driver responsible for the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, announced that the Immigration and Refugee Board has denied his request to remain in Canada as a refugee, leading to potential deportation to India. The Canada Border Services Agency is now obligated to remove Sidhu promptly, though his lawyer plans to seek a deferral. Sidhu’s application to restore his permanent resident status is still under consideration, citing humanitarian grounds due to his child’s medical issues. The tragic crash in April 2018 resulted in 16 fatalities and 13 injuries.
