Bianca Perea, a 32-year-old trainee lawyer from Manchester, underwent the UK’s first liver transplant for advanced bowel cancer, defying poor prognosis and now showing no signs of cancer after targeted drug therapy and chemotherapy. Initially seeking medical help for constipation and bloating, Perea was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer at 29, despite minimal symptoms, and was told her prognosis was to prolong her life rather than cure it. The successful transplant and treatment have given her a “second chance at life” following the grim diagnosis.
