A woman, Rachel Xie Yin, 38, has been banned from keeping pets after authorities found 21 cats, a dog, and a python living in filthy conditions in her east London flat. The RSPCA launched an investigation after a severely ill cat was brought to a vet, leading to the discovery of the animals, many of which were unhealthy and neglected. Xie Yin, who had previously been disqualified from pet ownership, was sentenced to 14 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months, and given a lifetime ban on owning animals. She claimed she loved animals but took in too many while friends traveled.
