Only One Match Scheduled for Boxing Day 2025
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In 2025, only one Premier League match will be held on Boxing Day, with Manchester United facing Newcastle at Old Trafford at 5:00 pm. This reduction is due to the Premier League’s commercial commitments and the calendar, as Boxing Day falls on a Friday, limiting matches to ensure weekends feature the majority of games. While the Premier League sees this decline, lower divisions like the Championship will host 12 matches. The tradition of multiple Boxing Day matches is expected to return the following year when it falls on a Saturday.
