According to Bloomberg, India has redeployed 10,000 soldiers from its western border to reinforce the border with China. The report, citing unnamed senior Indian officials, also mentioned that an existing group of 9,000 soldiers designated for the China border will now come under a newly created fighting command. This combined force will be responsible for guarding the 532 km border in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The Indian Army and defence ministry have chosen not to comment on this development.
A ‘befitting reply’ promise
During an event hosted by a TV channel, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated, “We are constantly working to maintain high morale among our soldiers… They are well-equipped, capable, and prepared to give a fitting response to anyone who threatens India.”
Agreements broken: Jaishankar
While in Japan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar pointed out that China has not adhered to longstanding written agreements with India. He expressed disappointment over the lack of stability and adherence to agreements, especially in the past decade. Jaishankar emphasized the importance of trust and stability in relationships with neighboring countries.

On the other hand, China’s foreign minister Wang Yi warned of “justified actions” to defend its sovereignty claims in the South China Sea. He also criticized the US for not fulfilling its commitments to improve bilateral relations.
