A recent study involving Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, known for transmitting diseases like yellow fever and dengue, revealed that a specific compound, “1-octen-3-ol,” produced by skin oils, significantly influences mosquito preference. Notably, pregnant women in their second trimester exhibited higher levels of this compound, making them particularly appealing to these pests.
