Abuse of Kenyan Workers in Saudi Arabia
Selestine Kemoli, a Kenyan maid who fled to the embassy in Riyadh in 2020, recounted severe abuse by her employer, including rape. Seeking help, she faced further exploitation by Robinson Juma Twanga, the labor attaché, who allegedly demanded sex or money in exchange for assistance. This pattern of abuse by embassy officials, as reported by multiple women, highlights a systemic failure to protect vulnerable Kenyan workers abroad, with many facing further mistreatment upon seeking help from their own country’s officials.
