The Chicago River will be dyed green at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, kicking off St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the city. Spectators can watch from Upper Wacker Drive or the bridges spanning the river, while NBC Chicago and Telemundo Chicago will stream the event online. The tradition began in 1961 by the Chicago Plumbers Local 130 union and the water retains its green hue for several days, including on St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.
