A three-member commission, including retired high court judge Harsh Kumar, former DGP VK Gupta, and retired IAS officer DK Singh, has been formed to investigate the causes of a stampede that resulted in the deaths of 30 people and injuries to many others during Mauni Amavasya at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The commission aims to identify mistakes, assess security measures, review CCTV footage, and interview witnesses to prevent such incidents in the future. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the probe to uncover the truth and ensure accountability, amidst accusations from opposition leaders regarding the handling of the tragedy, which claimed 30 lives and left over 60 injured during the religious gathering.
