As Americans welcome 2026, many will face cold temperatures, heavy snowfall, or intense rain, depending on their region. The Great Lakes and Northeast are experiencing lake effect snowfall, with some areas expecting up to 3 feet of snow by New Year’s Day, while California braces for heavy rain and potential flooding. A cold front is approaching the East Coast, leading to chilly conditions for New Year’s celebrations, particularly in New York City. Southern California is also likely to see significant rainfall, potentially reaching up to 2 inches in some areas.
