Cameron Bancroft, the opening batter for Star WA, will miss the Sheffield Shield final against Tasmania due to an injury he sustained after falling off his bike.
A spokesperson for WA Cricket confirmed that Bancroft suffered a concussion in the incident and will not be able to participate in the match scheduled to take place at the WACA Ground from Thursday.
Bancroft was the leading run-scorer for his state this Shield season, helping the side qualify for a third consecutive final.
With 778 runs in the campaign at an average of 48.62, Bancroft was only surpassed by Tasmanian Beau Webster.
His absence will be a setback for Western Australia as they aim for a third successive Shield title, a feat last achieved from 1986/87 to 1988/89.
Earlier in the season, Bancroft expressed his desire for Australian selectors to consider his form as a replacement for the retiring David Warner.
Instead, selectors chose to move Steve Smith up the order to replace Warner as opener, but Smith has had a disappointing start in the position.
