Eroweti Kaihau, a 31-year-old man already on intensive supervision for firearms charges, fired a gun into a moving car, shattering its windscreen. Following the incident, he texted his partner, admitting, “I have f***ed up,” aware that police were closing in on him. He was arrested shortly after and recently faced sentencing for the shooting, which stemmed from an altercation outside a restaurant in January 2022, as well as for his involvement in a prior prison beating.
