Virginia Tech Football Hires New Offensive Coach

Virginia Tech head football coach James Franklin has made a notable addition to his staff by hiring former Wake Forest offensive coordinator Warren Ruggiero as a senior offensive analyst. Ruggiero, who has extensive coaching experience and is credited with developing the innovative “slow mesh” RPO, previously mentored successful quarterbacks like Jamie Newman and Sam Hartman. This move follows the hiring of Ty Howle as the new offensive coordinator, marking a significant shift in Virginia Tech’s offensive strategy. Ruggiero’s expertise is expected to enhance the Hokies’ playbook and overall offensive performance in 2026.
