Venezuela’s military and police have pledged loyalty to interim President Delcy Rodriguez following the abduction of former President Nicolas Maduro by US forces, which resulted in over 80 deaths. At a ceremony in Caracas, Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino presented Rodriguez with a ceremonial baton and sword, declaring this an unprecedented moment. Rodriguez, who succeeded Maduro after his capture, has started a new political phase, releasing political prisoners and asserting Venezuelan sovereignty against foreign influence. She criticized opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, asserting that those undermining Venezuela should remain in Washington.
