Venezuela’s aviation authority said flights will resume a day after Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

Following the detention of over 30 individuals allegedly plotting to destabilize the country before the parliamentary elections, Venezuela suspended flights from Colombia for a week. Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello claimed the detainees, which included Venezuelans and foreigners, were involved in plans to carry out attacks but provided no evidence. Amid allegations of severe political repression and a voter boycott by opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, the situation highlights Venezuela’s ongoing political turmoil post the controversial July 2024 presidential election.
