A member of the Royal Canadian Navy fell overboard while on sentry duty near Bentinck Island, off Vancouver Island, on Monday, prompting a search and rescue operation that lasted over two hours. The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre deployed multiple helicopters and vessels from Canada and the U.S. to locate the sailor, who was eventually rescued around 5 p.m. PT despite challenging conditions.
