Minneapolis — During a visit to Minnesota, Vice President JD Vance acknowledged the cooperation between the Minnesota Department of Corrections and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating they were not among his top concerns. Vance encouraged state leaders to collaborate to reduce chaos in Minneapolis, while ICE official Marcus Charles urged local authorities to honor immigration detainers for dangerous criminals. Minnesota DOC Commissioner Paul Schnell confirmed ongoing coordination with ICE regarding the transfer of undocumented individuals approaching release. Charles noted that while the DOC cooperates, some county officials do not consistently honor detainers.
