Roger McClay, former minister and children’s commissioner, dies at 80

Former National MP and Minister Roger Neville McClay has passed away at the age of 80 after a five-year battle with cancer. His son, Todd McClay, the current Trade Minister, announced the news on social media, stating that Roger died at home surrounded by family. McClay served as an MP for the Taupō and Waikaremoana electorates for fifteen years and held various ministerial roles, including Youth Affairs and Pacific Island Affairs. He also enjoyed his time as Commissioner for Children.
