Kiwi living in Australia for decades arrested at NZ border over unpaid $58,000 student debt

Te Amo Matangi, a 49-year-old Kiwi woman who has lived in Australia for 21 years, was arrested at the border over unpaid student loan fees after months of trying to set up a repayment plan with Inland Revenue. Despite paying off her university fees over two decades ago, her loan balance had increased to $13,000 due to interest accrued while living abroad.
