Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing recorded the fastest time in the morning session of the Bahrain pre-season test, clocking in at 1m35.433s on soft tyres just before noon local time. This session, which ran from 10am to 2pm, marked the beginning of testing under new technical regulations in Formula 1. Verstappen’s time is notably five-and-a-half seconds slower than the fastest lap set by Oscar Piastri. The pre-season tests are crucial for teams to assess their performance ahead of the upcoming season.
