The U.S. government is acquiring a 5% equity stake in Lithium Americas, which is advancing the Thacker Pass lithium mining project in Nevada, crucial for reducing reliance on China for lithium. This project is expected to produce enough lithium for 800,000 electric vehicles annually and aims to strengthen domestic supply chains.
