U.S.-Taiwan Trade Deal
The U.S. and Taiwan have reached an agreement to reduce tariffs on Taiwanese goods to a maximum of 15%, down from 20%, and to enhance financing for Taiwanese semiconductor companies’ U.S. operations by $500 billion. This deal includes at least $250 billion in new investments in energy, AI, and innovation, with Taiwan offering similar guarantees to boost the chip supply chain. The U.S. will exempt certain imports, such as pharmaceuticals and aircraft components, from tariffs. This announcement comes ahead of a Supreme Court ruling on presidential tariff powers.
