The U.S. seized the Motor Vessel Sagitta, its seventh Venezuelan-linked oil tanker, on Tuesday, as part of ongoing efforts to enforce sanctions against Venezuela amid a quarantine established by the Trump administration. The Sagitta, a Panamanian-flagged vessel owned by Sunne Co Limited, was reportedly part of a shadow fleet transporting oil from sanctioned nations. Since December 2025, the U.S. has conducted seven such seizures, with significant military activity in the Caribbean. Recently, the U.S. also captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who face drug trafficking charges, as the U.S. seeks to encourage investment in Venezuela’s oil reserves.
