The US military has killed or captured approximately 25 ISIS fighters in a nine-day operation in Syria, following the killing of two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter by an ISIS gunman on December 13. US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that operations from December 20-29 involved 11 missions, destroying four ISIS weapons caches and hitting 70 targets. Despite the territorial defeat of ISIS from 2014 to 2019, remnants remain a threat, prompting continued US military efforts. CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper emphasized the commitment to eliminate ISIS networks to enhance global safety.
