Canada has designated seven Latin American criminal organizations as terrorist entities to combat fentanyl trafficking, including Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel and Jalisco New Generation Cartel. This move follows the U.S. government’s designation of eight Latin American crime groups as “foreign terrorist organizations.” Assets of these organizations will be frozen, and participation in their activities is now an offense, as part of Canada’s efforts to keep fentanyl off the streets and combat illegal immigration into the U.S.
