The US military conducted “large-scale” attacks against ISIL in Syria in response to an ambush that killed two American soldiers and a civilian in Palmyra last month. The strikes targeted multiple ISIS locations across Syria and were carried out with partner forces. Operation Hawkeye Strike was initiated following the ambush, with previous strikes killing or capturing 25 ISIL fighters. The US continues to coordinate with both Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian government in the fight against ISIL.
