Trump announces US military action against Iran’s Kharg Island

US President Donald Trump announced that the United States has “totally obliterated” military targets on Iran’s Kharg Island, describing a recent bombing raid as one of the most powerful in Middle Eastern history. This declaration follows US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s emphasis on “maximum” engagement with Iran and bold rules of engagement. Concurrently, reports indicate the US may be responsible for the destruction of an Iranian elementary school during the conflict, prompting concerns about civilian casualties and the impact on public perception.
