US forces seize Venezuela-linked oil tanker in the Indian Ocean

US forces boarded the Veronica III, a sanctioned oil tanker, in the Indian Ocean after tracking it from the Caribbean as part of efforts to target illicit oil tankers linked to Venezuela. The operation, described as a “right-of-visit, maritime interdiction and boarding”, was carried out to enforce US sanctions on Venezuelan oil. The tanker attempted to defy President Trump’s quarantine but was ultimately shut down by US military personnel.
