US firm Firefly achieves its first moon landing with Blue Ghost spacecraft

Firefly Aerospace successfully landed its Blue Ghost spacecraft on the moon for a two-week research mission as part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services programme. The mission carried 10 scientific and technological payloads, including instruments to study lunar dust and surface materials. Firefly plans to conduct two more lunar missions in 2026 and 2028 to further support NASA’s objectives, highlighting the increasing role of private companies in space exploration.
