UNSC Delegation Visits Lebanon Amid Tensions
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun met with a UN Security Council delegation to address rising tensions with Israel and the need to disarm Hezbollah, following Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon. Aoun urged the UNSC to pressure Israel to respect a November 2024 ceasefire, which has been frequently violated. Despite recent talks between civilian representatives of Israel and Lebanon, violence persists, with Israeli forces conducting attacks that have killed civilians. Hezbollah’s leadership rejects disarmament as long as Israel continues its military actions and occupation.
