Spain’s World Cup squad features Barcelona players, excludes Real Madrid

Luis de la Fuente has announced Spain’s World Cup squad, notably selecting no players from Real Madrid while including eight from Barcelona. This marks a shift towards team unity over club loyalty, as De la Fuente emphasized that the national team’s badge takes precedence. Key players like Dean Huijsen and Dani Carvajal were overlooked, with the squad set to face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay in the group stage. Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, recovering from injury, is expected to play a vital role.
