Under-equipped Ukrainian Soldiers fleeing the frontlines

Tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers have deserted their posts amid the ongoing war with Russia, creating a critical manpower shortage that hampers battle plans and could disadvantage Ukraine in future ceasefire talks. Over 200,000 soldiers have gone AWOL, with 100,000 charged under Ukraine’s desertion laws since Russia invaded in 2022.
