UN mission reports RSF destruction in el-Fasher shows genocide signs
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The United Nations-backed experts reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out a coordinated campaign against non-Arab communities in el-Fasher, Sudan, which is deemed indicative of genocide. Following an 18-month siege, the RSF’s actions, including targeted killings and sexual violence, were found to meet several criteria of the genocide convention. The report highlights that RSF fighters explicitly expressed intentions to eliminate groups like the Zaghawa and Fur. The ongoing conflict, ignited by a rivalry between military leaders, has resulted in significant civilian casualties and displacement.
