UN calls for Israel to release Gaza flotilla activists and investigate abuse claims

The United Nations has demanded the immediate and unconditional release of activists Saif Abu Keshek and Thiago Avila, who were detained by Israeli forces during a Gaza-bound humanitarian aid flotilla. Both men are being held without charges following their interception on April 30 and are reportedly on hunger strike. The UN has called for an investigation into allegations of severe mistreatment and criticized Israel’s use of arbitrary detention and vague anti-terrorism laws.
