The International Labour Organization (ILO) has adopted the Decent Work in the Platform Economy Convention, the first binding agreement to establish employment standards for digital platform workers in the gig economy. This landmark agreement aims to extend labor protections, including minimum wage, healthcare, and social security, to millions of app-based workers classified as independent contractors. A total of 406 ILO members voted in favor of the convention, which applies to all digital labor platforms globally.
