Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party has made significant early gains in local elections, winning 382 seats as the Labour Party, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, lost over 258 seats. Labour’s defeats were particularly pronounced in the traditional “Red Wall” areas of northern England. While the Conservative Party experienced mixed results, the Green Party struggled to convert expectations into votes, gaining only 23 seats. Voters are deciding on around 5,000 council seats across England, as well as in the Scottish Parliament and Welsh assemblies.
