The U.S. confirms Ukraine fired long-range ATACMS into Russia for the 1st time

Ukrainian forces fired six U.S.-made Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles into Russia, marking the first use of longer-range weapons in the conflict. Russian air defense systems intercepted five missiles and damaged the sixth. The incident follows the Biden administration’s decision to allow Ukraine to use sophisticated Western weaponry. The Kremlin expressed concerns about increased tensions with the U.S. and accused NATO of being at war with Russia. Putin signed a decree updating Russia’s nuclear doctrine in response.
