Canadians will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to travel to the United Kingdom starting February 25, 2026, or risk being denied boarding. The ETA, which costs £16 (approximately CAD$30), is part of the U.K.’s effort to digitalize its immigration system and enhance border security. Canadians can apply for the ETA through an app, and it is recommended to allow three working days for processing. British and Irish citizens, as well as those transiting through U.K. airports without passing border control, are exempt from this requirement.
